Homework Club Volunteers
CARES Homework Clubs meet twice a week at each of South Kingstown’s four elementary and two middle schools for one hour after school. The Homework Club is staffed entirely by university and high school volunteers. Volunteers work with the students at no more than three students to one volunteer ratio. To become a CARES Homework Club Helper, complete an application and we will contact you to set up a CARES orientation. Additionally all Homework Club helpers are asked to attend a, “How to Help Student with Math and Reading Workshop”. Workshops are held the first week of October and the last week of January and teachers stop into homework clubs regularly to lend volunteers a hand. Our Homework Club helpers come from our high schools, and universities. University students that have work-study grants can utilize Homework Club. To become a volunteer please complete the application. CARES will contact you to schedule a CARES Homework Club orientation and workshop. All CARES volunteers must complete a police background check and offer personal references. Please print up and complete the BCI check form to bring with you to the orientation. CARES can complete the notarization at the orientation. |
