Classroom Volunteers
Parents, community members, retirees, university students, America Reads students are all encouraged to participate in the success of the students of South Kingstown by becoming a classroom volunteer. CARES responds to request from teachers to help in the classroom by placing volunteers. Volunteer usually are assigned to one or two teachers to spend a few hours a week in their classrooms. Teachers are encouraged to use CARES volunteers to help with their students that have a Personal learning plan meaning they need extra assistance with reading. CARES classroom volunteers are prepared for the classroom at a one hour orientation and are invited to attend the CARES, “How to help Students with Reading and Math”, workshops. CARES volunteers are also invited to attend the SK District Development Day workshops for teachers.To become a volunteer please complete the application. CARES will contact you to schedule a CARES orientation. All CARES volunteers must complete a police background check and offer personal references. Please print up and complete the BCI check form to bring with you to the orientation. CARES can complete the notarization. |
